Trip to Indiana - Part 2

Here we were at the Ronald McDonald House in Chicago....talking w/ Rhonda. What a sweetie she is. Katherine (her 15- or 16-yr-old daughter) has a very touchy surgery Wednesday...as in 2 days from now...in Milwaukee. Please pray that it goes well. THey have no idea what the outcome will be - better or worse. Those of us with perfectly healthy children have much to be thankful for. Rhonda and her daughter, Katherine, are no different than me and any one of my daughters.....except for a very painful illness that the medical community can't seem to get a handle on.

In these pictures....we are April, Sam, Johnny, me, and Rhonda.

Several times at the RM House, I saw Sam get choked up as memories flooded back.

As I mentioned earlier, the children loved the playroom there.

These are 3 of Sam and April's 4 very beautiful children....Abby, Brooke, and Zach. Sure do miss little Kaylie. Our girls love the Goff cousins.

Marissa, Hanna, Allison, and Jessica
Upon our return home to Alabama, we found that our horse had cut his leg very badly (i.e. to the bone), and Grandpa Ballenger had taken him to the vet to have it sewn up. The horse now has to be in a stall for the next 14 days to allow it to heal, and to keep the cast from getting wet...from dew or rain. So, each afternoon we take him out for a little bit to graze, and he loves it. He eats as if there's no tomorrow! He is not used to being stalled. While I'm out w/ Santana Sunset, Emelie mucks out his stall. She actually enjoys the job!!!

I add the close-up for the horse-lovers in the family! Hi Heather Vanessa!

This is one more picture from when we were at David and Tracy's house. I'm adding it here as a special courtesy to Kara, who wondered what became of the pic of her and Hanna and Jessie!

One more post about that trip yet to come. (Coldstone Creamery!) Maybe tomorrow. Check back!

  1. I still think of Kaylie and continue to read when there is an update on his site. I don't think the pain of remembering could ever go away really.
Love the pictures...sorry to read about your horse. Waiting patiently for the really good pictures...Cold Stone. LOL

  2. Hi Aunt Rachel,
Sorry to hear about Santana Sunset.
Tell Emelie I enjoy that type of work to. :)
One other thing, I can't get through on the email. I don't know if it's a problem on my end or yours but I just thought I'd let you know.
    Love,
    Heather (Harris)
