First full week in Texas

Savannah really liked these veggie snacks.

Jessie made friends quickly with these little girls. Actually one is missing from the picture.
The little girl on the left is an identical twin, so the four are quite a cute set of blondies! :)

Funny story: A few months ago, Josh Reed got some chicks to raise as layer hens. They should be laying eggs very soon! However, for the last week or so, some crowing has been heard in the mornings. So, Clay said the roosters (whichever ones they were!) had to go. Seems that when they initially got the birds, he had promised his neighbors that they wouldn't be bothered by crowing! :) He asked Johnny if he knew how to slaughter, and JB has had plenty of experience in that capacity, he got the job. As you can see, there was a host of onlookers, and as I was trying to get a good photo, I noticed Clay scanning the neighborhood furtively. To answer my questioning looks, he said, "I'm watching for neighbors. People around here think chickens come from Whole Foods." I laughed so hard. He really was hoping to avoid notice or attention. Well, the 2 offending birds were finally ready for the freezer, the remaining evidence was disposed of properly, and Johnny started to brush himself off, saying "Well, nice to have that done............" And in perfect timing, an answering "Cockle-doodle-doo" rang out from the chicken pen across the yard! Hilarious! One more rooster for the freezer. He could have lived on in peace had he just kept his little beak shut!!!

Emelie got her hair cut just before we left AL, and this is how it looks straightened. :)

Savannah (almost 10 mos now!)....and Abby (2)

Savannah in the cabinet. I just love her little outfit. Heather directed me to the Carter's Store here, and they are having fabulous sales. Thus, the cute little smocked top and shorts. :)

Heather's birthday was today. Clay brought her sushi (her favorite), and Johnny got an ice cream cake for the occasion. Any excuse to get ice cream is good enough for me! :) This one came from Milwaukee Joe's in Southlake. Make sure we take you there when you visit us. Good stuff!
