So I'm in Indiana visiting my folks, as a wonderful gift from Johnny. I have Chase with me, and Johnny has the 5 girls at home. I wondered about how they'd survive without me, but he assured me they'd be FINE. I agreed! This would be great! I had second thoughts, however, when we said our final good-bye's at the airport, and certain of the girls dissolved into tears. Hugs all around, and then I went through the interesting process of letting the TSA inspect our goods. (Remove your shoes, take off your coats, lay open your bags, and hope they don't find the CLIF bars!) LOL! Well, they let it all go through, with one exception: they needed to inspect the beverage in Chase's sippy cup. So, over to a separate counter we go, the very kindly man asks me to remove the cover, and he waves a little stick over the top to "test the vapors". Ok there! Then he dips the stick into a little bottle of solution. Clear there too! Ok, we were good to go! As we sat down to wait for our plane departure, my phone rings and Johnny is telling me that he's still in the airport and surrounded by sobbing girls. A policeman whom we had talked to earlier stopped and chatted with them, trying to console them, telling them Mama wouldn't be gone long, cheer up, you're going to make it.....and the luggage guy hands them a handful of hankies. Poor Johnny....what could he do? Well, he did the best thing any man can do in such curcumstances.....he took them out to eat! That changed the mood of things! Nothing like a hearty breakfast to boost one's spirits! :)
From then on, they've had a beautiful time. They've kept up with schoolwork, kept the house in reasonable order (from what I understand), and everyone's been fed at regular intervals! WOW! Having Beverly 2 doors away helps. She's been starting supper for them each night. To read about their evening LAST night, read Beverly's post on her blog HERE!
Today after schoolwork and chores, they worked on a new fort in the Bamboo Forest, complete with "suspended bunkbeds" for the dolls. Below are some pictures they sent me. They invited Johnny for a tea party, so he brought his mocha! LOL!
I'm having a WONDERFUL time, by the way. The one-on-one time w/ my parents is such a rare treat! I am REALLY ENJOYING it! This is such a GIFT! I have a wonderful husband. :)

good job, girls!! The doll beds are genius. When you have a mocha machine rigged up down there, let me know, and I will schedule another trip with the boys.
ReplyDeleteI'd have cried too if my mom had left me for a week. We mothers like to know we are missed alot.
Love and miss you all.

p.s. John, you make a mean mocha!
