November - Early December 2010

One of our favorite places to go is Cabellas....which happens to be about 6 minutes from our house!

The shooting range is always fun!
and the aquarium...

taking a rest after touring the entire store.

Savannah didn't need a rest at all!!!

Toby, Bev, and Grandpa came to see us for Thanksgiving! Lots of fun!

Emelie and Grandpa

Ice skating in Arlington.

Lookin' good!!!

...and not so good!! :)

While shopping at the mall in Arlington, some folks at a kiosk asked if they could demonstrate their fabulous flat-irons for hair! Ok, sure, we have some extra time....

First they showed how well it could straighten "with just one pass"!

and then they demonstrated home to make curls!

Pretty impressive! Never knew a straightening iron could also do curls!

Even Marissa's hair went straight!!!

and then re-curled!

Chase was not impressed.

Southlake Town Square decorated for Christmas! Beautiful! All we needed was some snow! But that was not to be with 70 degree weather!!!

The following pictures were taken as we strolled through Southlake Town Square early December...

Savannah

These were displays in the Anthropologie store, and Emelie thought it would be fun to reproduce them as play houses for the girls' tiny dolls...

Pretty much these were made using a large cardboard tube, scraps of corrugated cardboard and construction paper and some semi-transparent material for the windows. Then a low-watt lightbulb was set inside to illuminate the windows. SOOO cute! :)

Jessie happily anticipating her cheeseburger at Kincaids!

Emelie

This is such a great picture of how boys are so different than girls! :) Love it.

At Kids Fest all the children had their faces painted.

And the following pictures are a sampling of how I wrapped Christmas gifts this year. ALL brown paper or brown paper bags...........and magazine photos. The kids love it! The heavy brown paper is way better in our case because the gifts are handled so much! They're moved, carried, shaken, examined, etc. So, on some presents I put pictures on all sides to make them even more intriguing.

In some cases it made sense to just leave the handles on the bags.

And last of all......this is what you get when a child decides to see if dish soap will work in the dishwasher, rather than dishwasher detergent. Remedy: about 8 rinse cycles and plenty of towels. We had billowing mounds of bubbles coming out from under the dishwasher! Any guesses on who this was? Yes, you're right. :)

  1. Oh, I know how you feel about the snow. Our weather's probably only about 10-15 degrees hotter than you right now. (I think I have that straight. Converting things is rather confusing.)
Chase is really growing up isn't he!

  2. I just love the black and white picture of you and Johnny! Can you merge that with one of the children by the fountain or the Christmas tree? That would look really neat!!

Merry Christmas to all of you!!!

  3. Oh, and tell Hanna that Aunt Tracy tried the same thing when we were first married and mopped frantically for a very long time! ;)

  4. The wrapping paper is so creative! Love it!
Did Emelie make those doll houses? Anthropologie always has such fabulous ideas everywhere.
The ice skating pics were adorable! That whole trip looks like you fit a million wonderful memories into one or two days.
