And we're off to the braces....

Marissa had an expander put into the roof of her mouth yesterday, as well as brackets for top braces. While the expander is doing its work, she will have no wire on the brackets. In January, the expander will come out, and the wire will go onto the braces, and she'll get lower braces at that time as well.

She wears headgear at night to adjust her bite. None of this is painful for her. It's just difficult to eat and talk as normal right now. :) She ought to be more used to it in about a week.

Next week Emelie and Hanna get expanders, but I don't think either of them will be getting braces quite yet. (It's all palnned out, I just can't keep them all straight in my head!) Emelie's treatment is going to be rather extensive and involves several "phases"....but she's very excited about getting started.

Hanna eventually will have braces, but only on the top teeth. Initially it doesn't look like she needs them when you look at her, but if you see her X-rays and notice how large her adult teeth are, and how they're coming in on each other's roots...along with some other interesting factors, you see how this early intervention will eliminate problems down the road.

Johnny is wondering if anyone wants to donate a trust fund to the cause! LOL!

Last weekend we watched the Blue Angels perform at the Fort Worth Air Show, 3 afternoons in a row.....from the side of the road. It took place about 6 minutes from our house, so we just watched the grande finale each day.





And on the last day, Johnny had Allison with him, and stopped at a grocery store for something. In the Starbucks area of that store, he noticed a guy in a flight suit, and it turned out to be one of the Blue Angels pilots! Nice guy...very kind and personable with children, Johnny said. So Allison had a picture taken with him. That afternoon it was funny to hear her say she knew the guy flying "that plane!"

I think this is Emelie's hint that she would be thrilled to have any of you come and visit us! :)
