Bailey's Barn Party

Every Fall for the last 3 years, friends of ours (the Baileys) host a Barn Party at their farm.  It's always great to see old friends, and meet new ones at this  event!   The Baileys provide the fabulous burgers from their own herd of grass-fed beef.....and everyone else brings side dishes, desserts, and drinks.  So, as you can imagine,  there's plenty of food!  There's also a pie contest, which I've never entered, but lots of other ladies do - so that adds even more "desserts" to the stash of great food!

This was a family of boys who played some really nice music w/ their dad while we ate.

(The girls' cute little outfits were hidden by warm coats and hats, due to the chilly evening.  Oh well!)

 Then the tables are all cleared and chairs pushed to the side, and they have an old-fashioned square dance.  

Every year they hire a professional "caller" whose job it is to teach all 300+ people the art of square dancing in one evening!!  He has his phonograph and a slough of old recorded folk music at his disposal.   Yes, there's lots of laughter all around, but within an hour, most of the people are staying in step pretty well with what he's calling.  The elderly man shown above is the caller.......and his sprightly little gray-haired wife serves as the main instructor on the "floor".   I apologize that I don't have more or better photos, but I had a baby in one arm, and it was a little chilly, so I was trying to keep her warm, snap photos, and couldn't get the camera to focus properly.

The Baileys have adopted their 5 children from Korea, China, and VietNam.

John is from VietNam.
