Today Joe (The Giant, as the girls call him) comes back with the part to repair the furnace....and by now they feel he's an old friend, so there's a troop of kids everywhere he steps!!!! He looks like the Pied Piper. This time there's 6 of them, since Chase is up from his nap today. Chase is inspecting tools, watching the procedure closely, etc....while the girls are making conversation, true to their gender. I would really like to know who in the world ever said home schooled kids lack social skills. They never meet a stranger!!!! I should note here that Emelie (12) is coaching from the back lines (in a stage whisper) on how they should/should not be behaving.....what they should/should not be saying, etc.
Funny I remember doing the same thing when I was little!
Makes me laugh (and shudder!) at how April and I gave the house painters such a hard time (Greg and Ron Weber) while they were simply trying to paint my parents' house!!!! We'd actually sneak around the corner and try to throw buckets of water on them!!!!! Of course we were usually laughing so hard we always missed, but what were we thinking? They just laughed and called us turkeys....which only made us do more!!!
Nice thing for Joe is that he eventually leaves here w/ a box of chocolates and 6 little friends for life! :) .......and a promise to bring his kids by sometime to see the chickens and buy eggs. :)
I don't remember April and I being that likable. LOL!
awww...I've missed you. I can totally picture all the kids. Made me laugh.

Ha! That is hilarious. I would never have suspected that my aunts used to throw water on people.

ReplyDeleteYes, buckets of water. But he did teach us "the song" that drove Mother batty.
ReplyDelete"Ham bone is sweet. Chicken is good. Possum meat is very, very fine. But give me, oh give me, I really wish you would that watermelon hanging on that vine."
Now THAT was a true gift.
THey did ask us to stop when we progressed to throwing the apples off the trees. He told us many times the story of him or Bro. Mooney hanging off Grandma Nymeyer's garage roof after she knocked the ladder out from under him.
