Remedy for Earaches

This is the season when children tend to get earaches!  We've had a few already this year, and we've found a remedy that gives immediate relief and healing.  Here it is.  Very simple.

Make garlic oil; put it right into their ear and use a cotton ball to keep it in.

I just chop up garlic very small, and warm it in a small amount of olive oil in a small pan on the stove.  You're not COOKING it.  The healing properties of the garlic are diffused into the oil within a minute or two.  Then just strain off/discard the garlic and use the garlic oil as soon as it's cool enough!  Have the child lay down on his/her side with the affected ear up.  Put a little into the child's ear using a dropper, and then wiggle the ear some.  You'll see trapped air bubbles rise to the surface.  Then plug the ear with some cotton.  The kids say it is instant relief!  Much more effective than anything on the market today!

Have the child rest on his side (with affected ear UP), to allow the oil to work its way down into the ear.

If you don't have a dropper, a teaspoon works.

Also, if you don't have olive oil, any type of vegetable or canola oil works fine too.
If you don't have cotton balls, tear off a piece of paper towel and make a small ball of it!

This is tried and true home-remedy, friends!  :)

  1. My mom used to do that to my ears when I was a kid. I had all kinds of problems earaches/infections growing up (including having one of my ear drums rupture when I was two) so I remember using all kinds of different remedies. I am pretty sure I remember this one being soothing. :)
