Fort Worth Stockyards - February

We spent Saturday afternoon at the Fort Worth Stockyards again. It's an area that covers several blocks, so this time we went to places we hadn't seen before.

This furniture store had all things western, and most of the pieces looked as if they belonged in a lodge or huge log home. Massive furniture, most of it!
I loved this sectional couch, minus the free-floating pillows.
I THINK it would fit all of us! :)

And this full-size bunk bed was amazing. Sorry for the blurry picture. I was afraid Chase might jump off before I could get the picture taken! I actually asked the price on this, but the $3400 price was more than I had in my wallet at the time, so I had to pass. :)

Lots of beautiful, rustic-looking, large tables! This one had inlays of granite, which made it very unique! I thought Jim and the boys would like this idea! :)

This was probably my favorite item in the whole place. A black leather ottoman with decorative stitching and the Texas Star in the middle.

Humongous mirror! I should have also taken photos of the various huge armoires and wardrobes! They were bigger (by far!) than those you'd see in Ethan Allen or similar stores!

Another means of transportation through the area.

No plain boots here! All very fancy and high-steppin'!

Best store with the best name!
Loved this place, even though the prices made one's eyes grow as large as saucers!
Mens shirt: $214
Womens dress: $349
Womens dress on deep discount: $118

Very pretty place, and the restaurant in the lobby looks absolutely elegant!

This was one of the characters who stands alongside the street and allows folks to take pics of him or with him for a mere $5.00. We just kept right on our way....but his costume is pretty authentic to the time period he's trying to portray! :) There was also a painted-up Indian, who was raking in the money faster than you could say wampum!

A train which can be taken from the Stockyards to Grapevine (near Heather's house) and back again. Sometimes they have special rides where they simulate a Train Robbery. I think the kids would love that!

We ate again at the same place. Great burgers! Again, I forgot about taking any photos of the food til after it had been devoured.
The children particularly love this place because lemonade comes with
their meals, and they really chug it!
(Typically we drink water when we eat out!)

Marissa recording the events of the day in her journal.

Savannah actually has water, but she loves the fact that she has her own cup and a straw!

Umm, he has lemonade. Obviously.

The "Free Petting Zoo" in the middle of town has some cute miniature goats and 2 alpacas. The food you can buy to feed these animals is sold in cups of $3, $4, or $5 each. We've never bought any, because other people always seem to hand their cups of leftover feed to the kids!

The Alpacas had some interesting buck teeth!

Sometimes she really reminds us of Kaylie. :)

We spotted this spectacle as we were headed back to the van. I HAD to get a picture! At first you see a fat dog with a very sleepy cat harnessed to his back. But when you get closer, you see a tail hanging down from under the cat.....so you question the owner, who says "Yup, that's a rat.".....and proceeds to pull it out from under the cat and place it on TOP of the cat!

Then he states loudly enough for all photographers to hear, "All donations go
for Feed The Animals".
Right!

In other words, "I'd really like you to pay me for the right to take a picture of my animals!"

This guy was no more an advocate for FTA than I was a photographer for National Geographic! He was just using this little freak show to make an extra buck.....which is fine,
but don't lie about it!

The rougher side of town.

And this is a total change of subject, but I have finally found a chewable Vitamin C that doesn't have sugar as the first ingredient! This brand uses Xylitol.
